The Montessori method of education was developed by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1907. Through her work with young children she discovered that they are eager to learn, especially when allowed to progress at their own pace. Dr. Maria Montessori designed a "prepared environment" in which children are allowed to move freely and make their own discoveries and learn independently through all five senses, using many hands-on materials. Learning is an exciting process of discovery, leading to concentration, motivation, self-discipline and love of learning.
